RFID technology has been used since so many years ago for several purposes. Mainly, it is used in industrial sector to bring ease in identification process. To do this function, this technology is divided into two types, RFID tagging and RFID reader. But, before we go further into this matter, let us talk about the detail of RFID technology first.
RFID stands for Radio-Frequency Identification. This technology employs electromagnetic fields to track and identify tagging device that is implanted or attached in an object automatically.

This tag contains information that is stored electronically inside it. And this information will be read by the RFID reader when both devices pass each other.

Unlike barcode that can only read one time by the current device, the RFID tag can be read hundreds of time. The use of these RFID reader and tag are various.

Mostly, these devices are used in several industries such as automobile, pharmaceutical, livestock, Airport, warehouse, logistics, and others.

Technically, RFID technology is divided into two types, they are RFID reader and RFID tag. RFID reader, or usually called interrogator, is defined as a device that gives access between the tag and the software in the enterprise system that needs particular information.

While the tag is an ID system that employs small identification device of radio frequency for the purpose of tracking and identifying.

Both reader and tag work together in pair to provide users the easy-accessed data. There are three types of these pairing system. They are Passive Reader Active Tag (PRAT), Active Reader Passive Tag (ARPT) and Active Reader Active Tag (ARPT). The detail of these systems will be explained in below explanation.
PRAT (Passive Reader Active Tag) is a pairing system with passive RFID reader that only receives data (Radio Signal) from the tag. The tag here is classified as the battery-operated-active tag one since it uses battery as power source and can transmit Radio Signal.

Then, for the Active Reader Passive Tag (ARPT), it consists of active RFID reader which can transmit interrogator signals that will be replied with authentication from the passive tag.

Then, for the Active Reader Active Tag (ARAT), the pairing system has both data transmitter in the RDFI reader and in the tag. There are some variations of the active tag here. Firstly, we have tag that is always active and send the data to the reader.

Secondly, there is also a variation of tag that will be awoken by the interrogator signal from the reader. This kind of tag uses Battery-Assisted Passive (BAP). Therefore, the tag will act like a passive one, but it will be active and send the signal when it gets interrogatory from the reader.

Here is the first difference between RFID and NFC, on the communication between tags. In RFID, the tag can be divided into passive and active. Unlike the passive, active one has its own power source, so it can transfer signal in 100 meters range. With this wide range of signal transferring, active RFID tag is effective for large scale of industry. Further, both active and passive tag will respond by sending the information after receive interrogation signal from the reader. This is the signal that is transmitted through the antenna in the reader.

In the case of NFC, you will have something more advance than that. Even though NFC operates in the same frequency with RFID, 13.56 MHz, but their technical operation is different. There is no antenna needed by NFC to operate. Further, the NFC devices are also able to act as both reader and tag. This is where NFC comes simpler than RFID. And with this characteristic, NFC technology will be perfect to be applied in some aspects, especially for the mobile commerce. And more interestingly, NFC reader is also able to read RFID tag which complied with ISO 15693.

Magnetic Stripe Card

Magnetic Stripe Card is made from high-strength high-temperature-resistant plastic or paper-coated plastic, damp-proof, wear-proof, flexible, portable, stable and reliable. In general, one side of the magnetic card is printed information tips, e.g.: direction of inserting the card; another side of the magnetic card has magnetic layer or magnetic stripe, with 2-3 magnetic tracks recording relevant information data.

Application: The magnetic stripe has three magnetic tracks. Additionally, data security of the magnetic card is relatively low, e.g.: careless contact of magnetic material results in loss or disorder of the magnetic card’s data; to enhance security performance of the data storage, the magnetic card must use related technologies, which increase the cost. With the development of new technology, the magnetic card with relatively-poor security performance is gradually replaced. Under the existing conditions, due to a large number of existing magnetic card equipment, maturity of the magnetic card and low cost, the magnetic card technology is still applied to many fields in a short term.

Inkjet PVC Cards
Once you have an Inkjet PVC Card Tray you can print on Inkjet PVC Cards. Inkjet PVC cards have a special coating applied to them that allow them to absorb the ink from your inkjet printer. If you were to try printing on a normal PVC card that does not have this coating applied you’d see that the ink would pool up and not be absorbed in to the card.

Are Inkjet PVC Cards Waterproof?
Yes they are! They dry immediately after printing and are waterproof.

Can I Use Any Software To Print on Inkjet PVC Cards?
You can use any application you’d like to print, but you must set it up to print in the correct location.
